After an Audit

So you've completed the on-farm VBP+ validation audit. You may have met all the requirements, maybe have some areas you might want to improve, or you may have to address some areas the auditor has identified. If you need to address anything the auditor will present a 'Corrective Action Request' detailing what needs to be addressed. This is not the end of the world, it usually means you have to update a record or get information from your vet.

Together with the auditor you will work out a convenient timeline for you to address the corrective item. You do not need to go through the audit again, just address the corrective item and then forward the response to your VBP+ provincial coordinator. Once completed, you will receive notification from your auditor and receive a VBP+ certification certificate.

Once a VBP+ Certified beef cattle operation you are into the 5-year cycle of self-declarations and records assessments leading up to your next audit. Throughout the 5-year audit cycle, VBP+ certified operations must complete either a Records Assessment or a Self-Declaration checklist each year to renew VBP+ status for that year. Your VBP+ provincial coordinator will provide notification and instructions to you each year so you can fulfill your VBP+ certified status maintenance.

Note: A random, no cost to you, audit may occur in any of the five (5 ) Self-Declaration years.
